Women get to­gether in Ark­low to mark 100 years of ‘in­ter­na­tional day’

IN­TER­NA­TIONAL WOMEN'S DAY was cel­e­brated in Ark­low re­cently and Ark­low Women's Club played host to women's groups from Ark­low, Wick­low and Kil­coole in the Har­bour Bar.

The event was held to mark 100 years of In­ter­na­tional Women's Day and to ac­knowl­edge eco­nomic, po­lit­i­cal and so­cial achieve­ments of women, past and present, and to in­spire women of the fu­ture.

The evening con­sisted of some net­work­ing and karaoke and a great evening was had by all. Ev­ery­one present was given flow­ers made by the mem­bers of Ark­low Women's Club to mark the cel­e­bra­tion. Ark­low Women's Club thanked Ken­nys of the Har­bour Bar for pro­vid­ing the venue and to a large num­ber of busi­nesses who do­nated spot prizes. Thanks also to mem­bers of the Ark­low Women's Club and any­one else who do­nated prizes or helped in any way.

Ark­low Women's Club meets ev­ery Tues­day night at the Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment Pro­ject Of­fices on Lower Main Street. Ac­tiv­i­ties to date in­clude art, com­put­ers, flower mak­ing, spir­i­tual guid­ance, fun bingo, yoga, aro­mather­apy, shi­atsu and so­cial­is­ing.
