FIRST YEAR GAELIC FOOTBALL
Colaiste Chraobh Abhann 1-5, Arklow CBS 1-11 This County Wicklow Schools quarter final was played in glorious sunshine in Kilcoole GAA Grounds last Monday.
It was a well contested match but Arklow always had the upper hand and it took a number of top class saves from Sean Carty in our goal to hold them at bay. Dylan Ford scored our only goal in the first half after some excellent teamwork right down the field.
Our defence was busy throughout and could not be faulted for their commitment. Vova Ribakov and Ross Davis worked hard at mid-field but had formidable opponents from Arklow in this sector of the field.
Our attack struggled to score from the possession they secured, yet Dillon Carty, Steven Taylor and Michael Doyle played some excellent football.
The team and scorers were: Sean Carty, Liam Keogh, Daniel Lennon, Ben Nolan, James Toner, Sean O’Gara, Aaron Meade, Vova Ribakov, Ross Davis, Dillon Carty (0-2), Michael Doyle, Stephen Taylor (0-3), Caolan Doyle, Dylan Ford (1-0), Jordan Green. Subs: Kenneth Turner, Jamie Murray, Conor Martin, Adam Carstairs, Aaron Clare, Mark Cullinan, Ross Hempenstall.
U16 LEINSTER SEMI FINAL
Congratulations to the boys U16 soccer team for their fantastic Leinster Semi-Final win yesterday against St. Fintan’s from Sutton.
It was 2-2 after extra time, with both goals from Aaron Byrne.
We won 7-6 on penalties, with scores coming from Aaron Byrne, Luke Martin, Gareth McDonagh, Stuart Synnott, David Crosbie, Ciarán Daly and Andy Burke.
Special mention to our goalkeeper Keith McCormack who made the winning penalty save. The entire team were brilliant and never gave up their spirit and effort, winning out in the end.
