GAISCE GLEN­DALOUGH WALK

On Fri­day, March 11, a group of Tran­si­tion year stu­dents to­gether with five teach­ers headed off to walk 18km of The St Kevins Way Walk. Af­ter an overnight stay in a lo­cal hos­tel they com­pleted their ad­ven­ture by climb­ing Spinc moun­tain. De­spite the in­clement weather con­di­tions all stu­dents com­pleted their task and had a great time.

PLAN­NING DAY

A very suc­cess­ful school plan­ning day was held in Scoil Chonglais on March 18. Teach­ers heard re­ports from Ms Ais­ling Leonard and Mr Joe Dolan on In­struc­tural In­tel­li­gence. Both teach­ers have com­pleted a three year course through Co Wick­low VEC with Dr Bar­rie Bennett. Feed­back was given to teach­ers on class­room method­olo­gies which will be in­tro­duced across the school in the com­ing months

NEW E.LEARN­ING CEN­TRE

Plan­ning is at an ad­vanced stage for the new school li­brary and IT cen­tre which will be op­er­a­tional from Septem­ber 2011

VEC MEET­ING

Scoil Chonglais were de­lighted to wel­come Ms Fiona Hart­ley CEO and Mr Michael Lawlor Chair­per­son of Co Wick­low VEC to our school for their monthly meet­ing

POT­TERY WORK­SHOP

A group of 5th year art stu­dents are con­tin­u­ing with their suc­cess­ful pot­tery work­shop. They are mak­ing a Totem Pole based on the 9th Cen­tury Cross of Moone. It will be ex­hib­ited in one of the School court­yards be­fore the end of term. This pro­ject is funded by a Cre­ative En­gage­ment grant and the artist fa­cil­i­tat­ing this is Tr­ish Kenny from Shil­le­lagh.
