Christmas tree recycling dates and locations

CHRISTMAS TREES can be brought to a number of Wicklow recycling centres where they will be shredded, composted and used again.

The public are advised by Wicklow County Council that no wreaths, plastic trees or decoration­s will be accepted.

Arklow Recycling Centre will collect Christmas trees from January 5 to January 19, Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a Saturday.

Collection­s take place at the Aughrim Tidy Towns Pavilion from January 5 to 19, Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

During the same dates Avoca Recycling Centre will also take Christmas trees from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, with Baltinglas­s Rampere Recycling Centre operating from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon on a Saturday.

Collection­s also take place from January 5 to January 19 at Blessingto­n County Council Yard from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Bray Recycling Centre from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through to Friday and from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a Saturday, and at Bray Festina Lente Foundation where donations in aid of charity take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The Wicklow Murrough Recycling Centre is open for Christmas trees from January 5 to January 19, Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m..

St. Cronan’s National School in Bray will run a collection point on January 12 where a charge in aid of the school will be requested from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..

Further collection­s will take place at Greystones carpark in front of the Council Office on Mill Road from January 5 to January 19, as well as at Wicklow Green King, opposite the Beehive, from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a SAturday, also from January 5 to January 19.
