The Book Club in January: The Club will be reading two books for the January 2013 meeting - 'Tigers in Red Weather' by Liza Klaussman or 'The Housemaid's Daughter' by Barbara Mutch. Annual
Register of Vestry Persons: Every year in January each Church of Ireland parish revises its register of parishioners. People who have become new members of the Parish and parishioners who have reached the age of eighteen are entitled to become registered members of the Parish known as registered parish members.
In a similar manner those who have ceased to be registered vestry persons through death or having moved away from the Parish are deleted. To be so registered entitles one to vote at the Annual Easter Vestry.
An up-to-date register is also helpful when the Church of Ireland caries out a census of its members. Application forms who those who wish to be added to the Annual Register should be submitted to a Churchwarden or the Rector before January 15th 2013.
ST. ANNE'S PARISH
Resource Centre Hours: St. Anne's Resource Centre is open 9am to 8.30pm Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9am to 3pm. Those requiring Baptism / Confirmation certificates or application forms for Baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the Parish Office is the only place where certificates and application forms can be processed.

Times of Masses: Mass is celebrated in St. Anne's Church at 10am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday, (except during July & August). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30pm Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8am, (9am in St. Patrick's Church in St. Columcille's Hospital), 10.30am (Family Mass), 12 Noon, and 6pm.
Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10am Mass, between 12.30pm and 1pm and after the 6.30pm Mass.
Habemus Choir: A special thanks is extended to all those parishioners who supported the Habemus Choir ' Home Coming' concert in the Church which was a wonderful evening of music and song and raised €914 for Parish funds. A big thanks you is extended to the members of the choir who gave their services free.
Cakes and Craft Sale: Many thanks are extended to all those who supported the Sunday December 16th Crafts and Cake Sale in St. Anne's Resource Centre in aid of Mountains of the Moon University and the Manna Rescue Home.
The magnificent amount of €2242 was raised, much of it in the form of donations. Your great generosity is very much appreciated and will be a wonderful surprise to those on the receiving end.
Bethany Bereavement Group: The Bethany Bereavement Group is a voluntary parish-based ministry who are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving. The Group holds a Drop In Centre on the First Friday of the Month at 10am in St, Anne's Resource Centre, and can be contacted via St. Anne's Resource Centre by calling 01-2822704.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul: The members of the Parish Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society wish to thank all those who contributed to the recent annual special collection which came to €13,834.
January St Anne's Parish Pastoral Council Meeting: The next meeting will take place at 8pm on Monday January 14th in St. Anne's Resource Centre. The St. Anne's PPC can be contacted via the Parish Office in St. Anne's Resource Centre.
Monthly meetings, except during the summer months break, for the coming season of the Shankill I.C.A. Guild take place on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7.30pm in St. Anne's Resource Centre. New members welcome - contact Ms. Betty Murray at 2820069.
The January meeting will take place there at 8pm on Monday January 14th .
This Saturday the January 2013 First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Association and Meals on Wheels, takes place in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre between 10am and 1pm.
So make a point of calling in sometime during morning as you never know what you might find as there is always a fantastic array of reading material on offer at bargain prices. Donations of books, other than school / textbooks, welcome and appreciated.
Shankill Library opens today (Wednesday) after the Christmas and New Year break.
The opening hours for Shankill Library are 10am to 1pm and from to 5pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 8pm. To renew or inquire about a book call 01-2823801 or Email:firstname.lastname@example.org.
The AGM of the Rathmichael Historical Society - the local history society for Shankill & District - will take place on Wednesday January 9th in Rathmichael School, Shankill, at 8pm and all members are requested to attend. Those wishing to join the Society can do at the AGM in January. Members are reminded that annual membership subscriptions fall due from January 1st and can be renewed at the AGM.
