GARDAI WERE forced to use pepper spray to restrain a teenager at St. Thomas' Community School in Bray last Monday afternoon.

Gardai were called to the school on Novara Avenue at 2.50 p.m. on Monday. The 14-year-old boy was acting in an aggressive manner and attempting to kick the door of the staff room. He was in a highly agitated state. Superintendent Pat Ward of Bray Garda Station said that the boy appeared to have issues with members of staff at the local school and caused a disturbance.

Supt. Ward also confirmed that gardai used incapacitant spray to deal with the hostile behaviour of the youth and subdue him.

The boy was removed from the scene and gardaí are following the matter up.

Superintendent Ward said that the Juvenile Liaison Officer will be involved with the pursuit of the case as would be the case in all such matters which involve a young person.
