Go Green and recycle your Christmas trees
NOW that Christmas is well and truly past and what was a freshly harvested tree now stands worse for wear, it’s time to think about what to do with it, if you haven’t already.
Christmas tree recycling is available in the following locations around County Wicklow until January 19.
Arklow: Arklow recycling centre. Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Aughrim: Tidy Towns Pavilion. Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Avoca: Avoca recycling centre. Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Baltinglass: Rampere recycling centre. Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday 9.30 p.m. to 12 midday.
Blessington: County Council yard, Naas Road. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Bray: Bray recycling centre. Monday to Friday 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Festina Lente Foundation, Old Connaught Avenue. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Donation in aid of charity.
St. Cronan's National School. January 12 only. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Charge in aid of the school.
Greystones: Car park in front of the council offices on Mill Road opposite the bottle banks. Daily.
Wicklow: The Murrough recycling centre. Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Green King, Coolbeg (road opposite the Beehive.) Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m .
The trees will be shredded, composted and used again! However, the environmental section at the county says it doesn’t want wreaths, plastic trees or decorations.
