FIRST YEAR AWARDS CER­E­MONY

On Tues­day De­cem­ber 18th our First Year stu­dents at­tended an awards cer­e­mony. Stu­dents who have com­pleted the pos­i­tive achieve­ment sys­tem and reached the fourth merit re­ceived a beau­ti­ful en­graved pen. The would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to thank our School Com­ple­tion Of­fi­cer for fund­ing this sys­tem and our First Year Year­head Mr. Di­a­mond for ar­rang­ing the event. Stu­dents and staff of Coláiste Chill Mhan­táin were asked re­cently to do­nate items to the St Vin­cent de Paul Christ­mas Ham­per Ap­peal. The ini­tia­tive was un­der­taken by the Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate Ap­plied One class. The ham­pers col­lected are to be dis­trib­uted to fam­i­lies in need. The class would like to thank all stu­dents and staff for their gen­eros­ity. MEN­TOR – LED CIN­EMA TRIP

On Thurs­day De­cem­ber 20th, our First Year stu­dents, ac­com­pa­nied by their Se­nior Men­tor team and Tu­tors trav­elled to Dundrum Town Cen­tre. The trip be­gan with a view­ing of the much an­tic­i­pated film “The Hob­bit”. Stu­dents were en­thralled by the spe­cial ef­fects and plot. Af­ter­wards stu­dents and teach­ers played a round of crazy golf. Dundrum Town Cen­tre was buzzing with fes­tive cheer and stu­dents soaked up the at­mos­phere. We would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to com­pli­ment the Se­nior Men­tor team for their ex­cel­lent or­gan­i­sa­tional skills and at­ten­tion to de­tail. IR­ISH GUIDE DOGS

Mr. De­nis Lam­bert of the Ir­ish Guide Dog As­so­ci­a­tion of Ire­land vis­ited the school on Wed­nes­day De­cem­ber 19th. Mr. Lam­bert was pre­sented with a cheque for €606 which our Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents have col­lected for this wor­thy char­ity. Well done to all in­volved. ISPCC FUNDRAIS­ING

A to­tal of €630 was col­lected by our Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents for the Ir­ish So­ci­ety for Preven­tion of Cru­elty to Chil­dren (ISPCC) on Mon­day and Tues­day last. The money col­lected will be pre­sented to this or­gan­i­sa­tion in the New Year. The ISPCC work tire­lessly to aid chil­dren in dif­fi­cult sit­u­a­tions. The fundrais­ing has height­ened our stu­dents aware­ness of the im­por­tance of this or­gan­i­sa­tion and the im­pact it has on chil­dren’s lives. CAROL SER­VICE

Our Chap­lain Ms. Caw­ley or­gan­ised a Carol Ser­vice for the whole school on Mon­day De­cem­ber 17th. Stu­dents and staff were in­vited to fo­cus on the gifts of peace, joy, hope and love which sym­bol­ise the four themes of ad­vent in prepa­ra­tion for Christ­mas. First and Sixth Year stu­dents sang Christ­mas carols with the school jazz band. A won­der­ful fes­tive at­mos­phere was cre­ated. FIRST YEAR TRIP TO EURO DIS­NEY

A gen­tle re­minder that the sec­ond in­stal­ment of €100 is due at the end of Jan­uary 2013. The money is to be given to Ms. Goff. MOCK EX­AM­I­NA­TION FEES

A gen­tle re­minder that the mock ex­am­i­na­tion fee of €25 is due to be paid by Third and Sixth Year stu­dents on or be­fore Jan­uary 14th 2013.
