Computer scam

-

GARDAI in Bray have urged caution when purchasing items such as laptop computers.

‘If it looks too good to be true, it probably is,’ said Sergeant John Fitzpatrick of Bray Garda Station.

He explained that some stall holders or other unauthorised sellers will show the customer a demonstration model, then when they agree to buy hand them a box containing a ‘new’ laptop.

‘It will contain something heavy, but it will be rubbish. It is a scam,’ said Sgt. Fitzpatrick.

He said that items such as these should be purchased from reputable trusted sellers. ‘ This kind of scam has been happening recently in the Bray area,’ said Sgt. Fitzpatrick.

Anyone who knows of any criminal activity can contact Bray Garda Station on (01) 6665300.
