Book­let to help pub­lic get ready for cold snap

WITH RAIL, hail and ready be­ing forecast over the coming days in­for­ma­tion on be­ing ‘Win­ter Ready' has been re­leased by Bray Town Coun­cil.

They say that by tak­ing sim­ple steps the pub­lic can avoid dif­fi­cul­ties or haz­ards when se­vere weather oc­curs.

The win­ter ready book­let gives in­for­ma­tion on be­ing pre­pared, pro­vid­ing prac­ti­cal ad­vice for cop­ing dur­ing episodes of se­vere weather, as well as giv­ing con­tact de­tails of or­gan­i­sa­tions and agen­cies that can pro­vide guid­ance and as­sis­tance.

The main mes­sage is sim­ple: ‘ be pre­pared, stay safe and know where to find help should you need it’.

At home, peo­ple should have a small sup­ply of non-per­ish­able, easy to pre­pare foods, and keep ex­tra sup­plies of med­i­ca­tion and fuel.

Peo­ple should call on el­derly rel­a­tives and neigh­bours and en­sure they have suf­fi­cient sup­plies of food and med­i­ca­tion.

They should en­sure that older peo­ple have suf­fi­cient fuel sup­plies to main­tain ad­e­quate heat­ing in their homes.
