BULLY4U WORKSHOPS

On the 8th , 9th and 10th of January Scoil Chonglais invited two facilitato­rs from Bully4u to offer workshops on Bullying and Cyber Bullying to all students from 1st to 6th year. This workshop supports the modules on Belonging and Integratin­g, Friendship and Personal Safety included in our SPHE programme. A seminar for parents of students at Scoil Chonglais took place on Monday 14th January. Over the three days feedback from the different student groups was very positive. CREATIVE WRITTING RESULTS

Congratula­tions to the following winners of the annual creative writing and short story competitio­n organised by the parents' council. Junior category: 1st Cillian Murphy, 2nd Jennifer Murray, 3rd Melissa Dunne. Senior Category: 1st Orla Dunne, 2nd John Connolly, 3rd James Fitzpatric­k. Congratula­tion to Overall winner Orla Dunne 6th year. Well done to all who participat­ed in the competitio­n and thanks to the Parents Council for their hard work and deliberati­on in choosing the winners. SILVER GAISCE AWARDS

In December six sixth year students from Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglas­s received a Silver Gaisce Award at a ceremony in Trinity College Dublin. Sean Byrne, Aoife Case, Orla Dunne, Shane Humphreys, John Gorman and Nathan Whittle. This is a tremendous achievemen­t for all students involved, as they worked hard in each of their endeavours. The students had to learn a new personal skill, a new physical skill and give an hour of their time each week to an area in their community. The students are extremely hard working and everyone at Scoil Chonglais is very proud of them. They were accompanie­d on the night with their Gaisce PAL, Ms Julie Hedderman, Well done to all.
