Murphy starred as Rathnew triumphed
GAELIC FOOTBALL is rather popular in the village of Rathnew so no doubt the news that Stewart Murphy is the Junior A footballer of the year has increased his popularity also.
Murphy was one of the star men for the Villagers as their second team took all the plaudits for a change by scooping the Junior A championship.
It looked like Murphy et al were going to have their names engraved on the trophy without having to break sweat after a bit of toing and froing by would-be final opponents Blessington which saw the final postponed originally and there was talk of a walkover but eventually everything was ironed out and Rathnew and Murphy kept their wits about them to lift the trophy.
