Diamond ring fetches €4,000

AN ORIGINAL diamond ring made by an Arklow goldsmith was auctioned for €4,000 in aid of Wicklow Hospice after the star studded ‘Lincoln’ movie premiere on Sunday.

Local jeweller John Swan wanted to show his support for the Hospice project and decided to make a contribution to the auction in the form of a princess cut diamond ring with 12 circular diamonds surrounding the outer collett.

The diamonds are set in 18ct white gold with rose gold half way down the band which flows into yellow gold.

‘ These three colours are part of the rainbow that represents the Hospice dream and hopefully at the end of this year this rainbow will be turning the sod for this wonderful project. The vision, energy and determination of a small group in Wicklow who dared to dream of building a hospice in the county for terminally ill patients and their families in the worst recession the country has endured is inspiring,’ said John.
