Quality drama in Glenealy
After three nights of wonderful drama in Glenealy at the 58th Wicklow ICA festival, the adjudicator Philippa Fitzpatrick had a tough job to decide the winners.
Ashford ICA with 'Heaven Help Me' by Ciarán Roche won the Premier Award for Best Group and Theresa Sheekey from Ashford won Best Actress. Rathfarnham Theatre Company were the Runner Up Group with 'Positive Dead People' by Pauline Shanahan. Delgany Dramatic Society with ' World Premier' by Charles Mander won Best Producer Peter Harrison, Best Actor Peter Robbie and Runner Up Actress Elizabeth McCormick.
The Village Players won the Adjudicator's Award and Best Set with 'Over My Dead Body' by Pat Baker. The Norah Ferns Trophy for Most Appropriate Costume went to Masquerade and James Kearon from Masquerade won Runner Up Actor with ' The Bear' by Brian Friel, after Checkov. Ballycoog ICA with 'Strawberry Jam' by Bruce Fisk won the Condon Cup award for an ICA group.
The sketch section was won by Wicklow Active Retired who performed ' Twixt Heaven and Hell' by Jack Burgess. Madge Kenny from Tinahely won the Best Performance award and Marie Comerford from Kilmant Players won Runner Up Performance.
