Pat Power to give guest his­tor­i­cal lec­ture

HIS­TO­RIAN Pat Power will be the guest speaker at the next talk in the Wicklow His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety’s se­ries of win­ter lec­tures.

Mr. Nolan, from Ark­low, will de­liver a talk on ‘Why Wicklow is Wicklow.’

This in­cludes a look at the Ge­nealog­i­cal and topo­graph­i­cal her­itage and his­tory of the county, evolv­ing land and seascapes. He will ex­plain how ge­ol­ogy im­pact on his­tory and her­itage in the county. He also asks why do we have dif­fer­ent ac­cents in Wicklow and won­ders if there is oil to be found in Wicklow?

Pat will also look at how the Ice Age in­flu­enced wind farms, our off­shore is­lands, ge­ol­ogy and war and peace, as well as ex­am­in­ing the sources of ev­ery­thing from flint to gold found in the county.

The talk in St. Pa­trick’s Na­tional School on Jan­uary 29 at 8 p.m. is free of charge and ev­ery­one is wel­come.

A do­na­tion box will be avail­able for vol­un­tary do­na­tions to help off­set so­ci­ety costs.
