Bridge play­ers take no­tice of spe­cial pairs event in Au­gust

BRIDGE FANS can avail of a spe­cial event in Bray as part of The Gath­er­ing 2013.

Bray Bridge Club runs an an­nual Swiss Teams event how­ever this year they are go­ing to have an ad­di­tional Gath­er­ing pairs event on Satur­day, Au­gust 31.

Their nor­mal teams event will take place on Sun­day Septem­ber 1.

There will be over €2,500 in prize money over the two days.

‘In the early 20th cen­tury Bray was known as the Brighton of Ire­land, so come to Bray for a late sum­mer break and en­joy a great game of bridge and hos­pi­tal­ity,' said a club spokesman. ‘Bridge is a game for life,' said east­ern re­gion pres­i­dent Bren­dan Martin. ‘It can be played by all, at what­ever your level. It takes a bit of learn­ing, but pro­vid­ing you are pa­tient, it can de­velop into a real life­long hobby. You don't need to have a knowl­edge of cards, as you learn all that when you take up bridge lessons.'
