Man ‘more messy’ than anything else
A WICKLOW town man who is ‘more messy than anything else’ when drunk was fined €25 when he appeared before Judge David Kennedy at last Tuesday’s sitting of Wicklow District Court.
Paul Flynn (47), Whitehouse, The Murragh, Wicklow was charged with being intoxicated in a public place at Abbey Street, Wicklow on September 7, 2012.
The court heard Flynn was seen at 8pm outside the AIB in Wicklow town and he was ‘ barely able to stand up’. The court heard he had cans of beer with him.
Acting for Flynn solicitor Dermot Hickey said Flynn was known to the court and was due back before the court on a similar charge on March 12.
‘Are you doing anything about your drinking?’ asked Judge Kennedy and Flynn said he was in contact with the proba- tion service.
However probation officer Andrew Ni Mhurchu said Flynn had declined treatment and said his drinking is ‘entrenched’.
Inspector Mary Aldridge said when Flynn was sober he was ‘very affable’ and said when drunk he doesn’t generally cause trouble. ‘He’s more messy than anything else’, she said.
Judge Kennedy then imposed a fine of €25.
