MAN IN CUSTODY AS PHILLY LAID TO REST
BODY OF MURDERED DAD FOUND IN WOODS IN TROOPERSTOWN
A BRAY MAN remains in custody today suspected of the murder of Philip ‘Philly’ O'Toole (pictured).
Philly’s body was found in Trooperstown Wood in Rathdrum last Friday morning. He had been missing for over two weeks. The man being questioned by gardai is in his 40s and has links to serious crime in the area.
Philly, originally from Thornhill View in Bray, had been living in a number of locations around Wicklow including Arklow, Baltinglass and Ashford. He was moving around as the convicted criminal was a marked man due to an ongoing feud with high level criminals.
He was shot in the head at close range and his body dumped in the woods.
An attempt was made on Philly's life in Enniskerry in 2011 when he fought off his attacker and sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach. The same year, graffiti was plastered on walls around the Fassaroe area calling Philip a ‘rat' and an ‘informer' and included the chilling threat ‘RIP.'
His funeral took place yesterday at St. Peter's Church in Bray. He is survived by his parents Brendan and Irene, sister Lorraine, partner Jennifer, son Noah, and other family members and friends.
Philip O’Toole’s dad Brendan carries his son’s remains at the funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Little Bray on Tuesday.
