BLACKLION HOSPITAL REGISTRATION

Bray People - - THE NOTEBOOK -

BLACKLION PET Hospital is offering pet owners the chance to microchip and have their pet registered for €25.

‘ This is literally cost price for the vet in the hope of getting as many Greystones pets chipped as possible.’

If a cat or dog is microchipped they are easy to identify if lost or stolen.

The price of the procedure is usually €50.

‘We will register you, your pet and the chip on a European database at the same time.'

A microchip is about the size of a small grain of rice. Each chip carries a unique 15-digit number which can be ‘ read' by a special scanner which all vets, dog pounds and animal sanctuaries will have.

With sterile precautions the chip is injected under the skin at the base of the neck. This only takes an instant – for your pet it will feel much the same as having a vaccination injection. For an appointment call (01) 2875283.
