AC­TIVE RE­TIREES

En­niskerry are back in mo­tion again on Wed­nes­day next Fe­bru­ary 6th in the En­niskerry Com­mu­nity Hall on the Bray Road. A large turnout is ex­pected to at­tend af­ter the Win­ter Break. New mem­bers are as usual very wel­come to join in. MIXED LUCK

There were good and bad re­sults for En­niskerry YC soc­cer Club over the week­end. The Le­in­ster League side won their Cup game on penal­ties scor­ing 8 against their op­po­nents’ 7. The pre­mier Wicklow League team were the losers to Rath­new on a score of 4 goals to nil. WALK­ERS

A new and very dif­fer­ent rote at Rock­brook Massy's Wood in South County Dublin is the next date for those from En­niskerry and far afield on Satur­day Fe­bru­ary 9th. The start­ing time and venue is still the same so meet out­side of Wind­sors Spar op­po­site the Town Clock in the Vil­lage. POW­ER­SCOURT/KIL­BRIDE

The next meet­ing of the En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety takes place at 8.30am on Thurs­day Fe­bru­ary 14th in the Pow­er­scourt Arms Hote, when Frank Tracey will present his lec­ture 'Af­ter the Ball Was Over: The last days of the An­glo-Ir­ish As­cen­dancy' (Frank Tracey). All wel­come to at­tend - ad­mis­sion €4.

Lec­tures af­ter this one in the En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety's Spring 2013 Pro­gramme re­main in­clude the fol­low­ing : Thurs­day March 14th - 'Christ­mas in Wicklow 100 Years Ago (1912) ' (James Scan­nell); Thurs­day April 11th - 'The Poor Har­vest and Bad Win­ter 1947 ' (Padraig Laf­fan) ; Thurs­day May 9th - 'The Re­mark­able Story of F/.Lt. E.J. A Bourke ' (Cyril Dunne). All wel­come to at­tend th­ese lec­tures - ad­mis­sion to each lec­ture €3. In the mean­time mem­bers of the En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety have been in­vited to the Wed­nes­day Fe­bru­ary 6th 8 p.m. meet­ing of the Rathmichael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety in Rathmichael School, Stone­bridge road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, at which Kath­leen Vil­liers-Tuthill will speak on 'A Colony of Strangers - the found­ing and early his­tory of Clif­den, Co. Mayo'. GHOST HUNT­ING
