Bray People - - NEWS -

THIEVES BROKE in to the Holy Redeemer Church in Bray and ransacked the sacristy in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

Three tabernacles were damaged by four youths who broke three internal doors.

Detective Inspector Frank Keeneghan of Bray Garda Station said that a sum of cash was taken, but it was ‘not substantial’.

Mass that morning was relocated to the Little Flower Hall on the grounds of the church as gardai investigated the scene.

Det. Insp. Keeneghan of Bray Garda Station said that they are following a definite line of enquiry with regard to the case and hope to make arrests shortly.

He added that the young males broke a CCTV device.

‘It was a senseless crime,’ according to Det. Insp. Keeneghan. ‘ They got away with just a very small amount of money. There was never going to be much there for them to take.’Fr. Robert Colclough said that the investigation is now in the hands of the gardai and the parish has given them a report.

Anyone with any information or who saw suspicious activity around the church overnight can contact Bray Garda Station on (01) 6665300 or the garda confidential line (1800) 666111.
