A group of TY stu­dents at­tended the in­au­gu­ral WWGS Con­fer­ence at Croke Park on Thurs­day last April 3. WWGS stands for World Wise Global Schools, a char­ity or­ga­ni­za­tion who pro­vide as­sis­tance to post pri­mary schools in grow­ing de­vel­op­ment ed­u­ca­tion. The theme of this year's con­fer­ence was 'Pass­port to De­vel­op­ment Ed­u­ca­tion', with ex­cit­ing work­shops and a show­case ex­hi­bi­tion on of­fer for both stu­dents and teach­ers to ex­plore var­i­ous as­pects of de­vel­op­ment ed­u­ca­tion in an in­ter­ac­tive and fun way. Many thanks to Mr.Healy for or­gan­is­ing the trip. SWEDISH EX­CHANGE

Wel­come back to our fifth year stu­dents, along with Ms.Arm­strong and Mr.McKenna, who have just spent ten days in Swe­den. They fol­lowed the Swedish school sys­tem and spent time with host fam­i­lies. They took part in Swedish lessons, choir, so­cial stud­ies, art, tex­tile class and wrestling to men­tion a few. Dur­ing their visit, the stu­dents en­joyed Waf­fle Day at the school and also tasted Sem­lor.

They vis­ited Hels­ing­borg, Malmo and Copen­hagen, while also tak­ing in Ham­let's Cas­tle, The Lit­tle Mermaid and Rosen­borg Cas­tel. Modes of trans­port var­ied from plane, boat, bus, train, segway and bi­cy­cle! It was a very in­ter­est­ing ex­pe­ri­ence for all in­volved. GAEILGE

Class 4JAG and 4AWH have been work­ing on the play 'Balor Na Súile Nimhe' with Ms.Cheever's 5th class in New­town Pri­mary School for the past num­ber of months. The prepa­ra­tions, which be­gan be­fore Christ­mas, cul­mi­nated in the re­cent per­for­mance of the play for their par­ents. All pupils were ex­cel­lent! Well done to all the pupils in fifth class, and also to the two TY classes for all their hard work. GER­MAN EX­CHANGE

The Ger­man ex­change has just taken place in the school. 14 stu­dents and 2 ar­rived from Wurzburg. While in Ire­land, the Ger­man stu­dents at­tended some classes to learn how the Ir­ish sys­tem works. They also went on a day trip to Dublin, tak­ing in Trin­ity Col­lege, the Book of Kells and the Vik­ing Splash Tour. The stu­dents also walked from Grey­stones to Bray along the pic­turesque cliff walk and spent an evening bowl­ing in Wick­low. This is the sixth ex­change to take place be­tween CCA and Wurzburg. The Ir­ish stu­dents will make their re­turn visit to Ger­many on April 30th for 6 days. PRE­FECTS

The Coláiste Chraobh Ab­hann Stu­dent Coun­cil and Green School's com­mit­tee re­cently at­tended the An Taisce 5km Walk for Wa­ter event in Glen­dalough. Dur­ing this walk, stu­dents were asked to carry three litres of wa­ter as a way to pro­mote aware­ness for woman and chil­dren in Africa who are forced to walk and carry clean wa­ter ev­ery day from wells to their homes. CSPE TRIP

Class 2DND and 3AOA re­cently vis­ited Dáil Éire­ann as part of the CSPE pro­gramme. This trip was fa­cil­i­tated by Mr.Si­mon Har­ris, TD. Dur­ing the day, the stu­dents sat in on the Dáil, the Seanad and were also given a tour of Le­in­ster House, learn­ing about its his­tory and the procla­ma­tion.

The day con­cluded with a ques­tion and an­swer ses­sion with Mr.Har­ris. Many thanks to Ms.Tar­rant, Ms.Ní Suaird and Ms.Clarke who ac­com­pa­nied the stu­dents on the day. EASTER HOL­I­DAYS

The school will close this Fri­day at 12.35p.m. for Easter hol­i­days. School will re­open on Mon­day April 28th. We would like to wish all mem­bers of our school com­mu­nity a happy and peace­ful Easter break.
