Bruno is an eight-year-old boy who moves from his parents. Bruno misses Berlin at first, until he befriends a boy his own age called Shmuel who lives behind a fence in what Bruno believes is a neighbouring's actually a concentration camp which Bruno's dad has been sent to run and only gradually does he realise what’s really going on.
