Hayes flying it for Rams U-21s
In form ahead of Irish selection
WITH Derby County pushing for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship and Paul Doolin keeping tabs before naming his Republic of Ireland U-19 squad for the Elite phase of the Euro's next month, Dylan Hayes has picked the right time of the season to hit form with the Rams’ 21's/reserves.
Having been the regular right back since joining the academy in 2011, Derby have recently been utilising the versatile Bray man on the right and left wing, and his performances have led to regular starts with the reserves/21s side.
The last 10 days alone have seen him make the starting line-up against Birmingham City and Barnsley and also in 2-0 win against Coventry City on Thursday last at Sixfields.
Just last month, Hayes played the full 90 minutes in a friendly clash for the first team against Minnestoa United in front of the onlooking Steve McClaren.
Fellow Irish international Connor Sammon also featured as the Rams ran out 2-0 winners.
It is perfect timing for Hayes to impress and he’ll be hoping to continue his fine form in the run-in as Derby aim to return to the Premier League. Hayes, who turns 19 today, has come a long way since beginning his football career with Glencormac United at the age of five.
