BOTH OF the boys first year foot­ball fi­nals were on Mon­day and re­sulted in wins for Co­laiste Bhride Carnew in the A fi­nal and St Kevin's CC Dunlavin in the B

An im­pres­sive Co­laiste Bhride team had a com­fort­able win over Scoil Chonglais Balt­in­glass in the first year A fi­nal in Aughrim.

The Balt­in­glass school started strongly and kicked some fine early points. Co­laiste Bhride soon set­tled and worked their way through for goals.

They led by 3-5 to 0-5 at half time and went on to win by 8-9 to 0-6. The win­ning mar­gin does not re­flect the fine ef­forts of the Scoil Chonglais side but Co­laiste Bhride were the bet­ter all round team.

Scor­ers for the win­ners were Paudie McGing 3-0, Owen Darcy 2-3, Adam Hughes 2-1, James Hed­der­man 1-1, Liam Shee­han, Conor Bres­lin, Stephen Greene and team cap­tain Jim Sharry 0-1 each. For Scoil Chonglais: Jack Flem­ing and James Ea­ger scored 0-2 each, Jordan Deans and Dil­lon O'Toole 0-1 each. Ref­eree was Pat Hickey, Ark­low.
