Disappointment over attendances

AT MONDAY night’s County Board meeting in Aughrim Billy Byrne highlighted the very low turnout at the recent youth seminar which was supported by only nine clubs.

Other workshops were also badly attended. The recent nursery workshop 20 clubs failed to send a delegate, 23 clubs were missing from the club coaching coordinators workshop, 18 clubs were not represented at the football workshop and 12 clubs did not attend tonight’s county board meeting.

It is hard to understand why clubs do not seem to care that these events which are organised to help and support the clubs are so badly attended.

Many clubs said that they were having great difficulty in getting people to help in any way.

Billy Byrne pointed out that clubs can be assisted in these matters when they complete their club planning process.

Owen Doyle pointed out that Hugh Kenny and his staff are compiling a full database of club coaching contacts and that coaches will be contacted directly in future.
