Schools get €185,000 for book rentals
A TOTAL of €184,900 has been allocated to 12 primary schools across Co. Wicklow for Book Rental Schemes.
The announcment was made this week by the Department of Education and Skills and is designed to reduce financial pressure on parents.
Wicklow schools that have beena pproved for funding are Scoil na Naomh Padraig Arklow, Powerscourt National School Enniskerry, Moin an Bhealaigh National School, Delgany National School, St Peters Arklow, St Josephs National School, Templerainey, Arklow, Crossbridge National School, Tinahely, Marino school National School Bray, Rathcoyle National School, Naomh Brid National School, Scoil na Naomh Brid Kiltegan, Wicklow Educate Together National School.
A €15m fund which was allocated in Budget 2014 will targeted at schools who do not currently operate book rental schemes. Minister Ruariri Quinn outlined during the announcement that the funding was made available through the sale of the National Lottery.
Provisions have also been made for new schools due to open in September to receive Book Rental Scheme funding.
