Bray People - - LOCAL ELECTIONS -

WE ARE WHERE WE ARE? TO START off with the Ghost estates the council should take them over and complete them, selling houses at cost price or at least make it easy for competent builders to take them over and finish them for cost price. After all a person’s house is their castle and should be priced fairly, so people can have somewhere they can close the door on the world and not worry about Thieves with brief cases or balaclavas . Also the Council should take over abandoned commercial sites, complete them and rent them at reasonable rates for anyone looking for factory space in conjunction with the IDA. When tendering for contracts with the councils a turnover of x millions should not be required to be considered. Any persons on social welfare daring enough to become selfemployed should have no issue getting back onto welfare if they are unsuccessful.

Don’t accuse me of speaking for the wrong County, but surly Dublin should be the building capital of Europe at the moment. With a scarcity of housing and the price of rent at €1300 a month the people of Wicklow would have no problem commuting the N81 or N11 to build these houses for an adequate wage. Farmers 4-5 farmers could collaborate to employ a person between them one day a week each without a pile of paper work, hence taking more people off social welfare. Forestery Coillte could surly do more for the community for want of a better word exploiting workers for years. To help with tourism they could plant hardwood trees and fruit trees along public roads to enhance the appeal of our Garden County. They could also turn more forests into attraction sites by creating pathways and trails. To create employment they should take on more workers to tidy up the forests and get rid of fallen trees. After all the people did save them from the Chinese!
