Rais­ing a glass to Ir­ish whiskey

WICK­LOW BASED com­pany ‘Glen­dalough Ir­ish Whiskey’ helped to launch the new Ir­ish Whiskey As­so­ci­a­tion (IW).

Last week Min­is­ter for Agri­cul­ture, Food and the Ma­rine, Si­mon Coveney, an­nounced that the Ir­ish whiskey sec­tor is set to in­vest over €1 bil­lion in IRe­land over the next 10 years.

Present at the launch were Brian Fa­gan, Kevin Keenan and Barry Gal­l­lagher of Glen­dalough Whiskey. The com­pany pro­duces a pop­u­lar range of poitins, in­clud­ing Glen­dalough Pre­mium Poitin, Glen­dalough Sherry Cask Fin­ish Poitin and Glen­dalough Moun­tain Strength Poitin.

With over 15 new dis­til­leries cur­rently be­ing de­vel­oped across the coun­try, the new Ir­ish Whiskey As­so­ci­a­tion brings to­gether new en­trants and ex­ist­ing com­pa­nies to pro­mote Ir­ish whiskey and to en­sure the prod­uct is given vi­tal pro­tec­tion go­ing for­ward.

Ir­ish whiskey ex­ports have grown by 220 per cent since 2003 and are now val­ued at €350 mil­lion.
