Raising a glass to Irish whiskey
WICKLOW BASED company ‘Glendalough Irish Whiskey’ helped to launch the new Irish Whiskey Association (IW).
Last week Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, announced that the Irish whiskey sector is set to invest over €1 billion in IReland over the next 10 years.
Present at the launch were Brian Fagan, Kevin Keenan and Barry Galllagher of Glendalough Whiskey. The company produces a popular range of poitins, including Glendalough Premium Poitin, Glendalough Sherry Cask Finish Poitin and Glendalough Mountain Strength Poitin.
With over 15 new distilleries currently being developed across the country, the new Irish Whiskey Association brings together new entrants and existing companies to promote Irish whiskey and to ensure the product is given vital protection going forward.
Irish whiskey exports have grown by 220 per cent since 2003 and are now valued at €350 million.
