A festival of goals

-

AVONMORE FC will have to continue to do things the hard way if they are to remain in second place in Division 3 South.

After disposing of Conary United this week, their other promotion rivals – FC Laragh – are next on the agenda. The pair will meet tomorrow evening in Laragh and should a winner emerge, they will surely go on to seal promotion.

The stakes were also extremely high as Avonmore visited Rooster’s Park but they picked up a superb 1-4 victory to put a massive dent in Conary’s promotion hopes and give their own aspirations a fresh shot of optimism.

Meanwhile, promotion may not have been on the cards for either Arklow Celtic B or MK Dons at Celtic Park but it didn’t stop them from putting on a festival of goals.

The Dons did just about enough in the end to heap more misery on basement side Celtic, but it was by no means smooth sailing.

Ed Dunne, Graham Heaney and Tom Kavanagh all bagged braces for the Dons but they were given a late scare by the hosts, who had Gary McLoughlin (2), Cathal Darcy and John Cush on target.
