Woman ad­mits theft of gro­ceries

A WOMAN whose part­ner was trag­i­cally shot dead some years ago ap­peared in Bray District Court last Thurs­day on a charge of steal­ing gar­lic may­on­naise and por­tions of south­ern fried chicken.

Mary Kin­lan ( 41) ad­mit­ted the theft of the items worth a to­tal of €6 from Tesco Ex­press in Bray on Fe­bru­ary 26.

She put some items in a bas­ket and oth­ers in her hand­bag. She was iden­ti­fied by shop staff as well as CCTV, and she ap­proached gar­dai on the street in re­la­tion to the theft.

‘Miss Kin­lan has long­stand­ing is­sues around al­co­hol,’ said so­lic­i­tor Con­way O’Hara. ‘ She has three teenage chil­dren and has joint cus­tody with her ex-part­ner. An­other part­ner was trag­i­cally killed some years ago and that has had an im­pact on her life.’

Mr. O’Hara added that she apol­o­gised at the time. She has a very sim­i­lar mat­ter due be­fore Bray District Court on May 12 and Judge David Kennedy has or­dered the prepa­ra­tion of a pro­ba­tion re­port.
