False name

A ROUNDWOOD woman admitted in court that giving a false name to the gardai was ‘stupid.’

Ann Sinead O’Brien (21), of 77 Ashwood, Roundwood, appeared in Bray District Court last Thursday.

Garda Ciara Toolis told the court that she stopped O’Brien at a checkpoint in Delgany on June 2 last year at 11.30 p.m.

She failed the roadside breath test and gave Garda Toolis a false name. The Garda asked her to produce documents which she did not. Garda Toolis suspected that the driver had not given her real name and called to the address.

O’Brien admitted her identity and told the garda she had ‘freaked out.’

Judge David Kennedy put the matter back to June 16 for a community service report.
