O’Donnell strikes gold
FOUR members of Arklow Racquetball Club travelled to the national singles championships which were held at the Wexford Sports Centre recently.
It was Pa O’Donnell who came out on top in the men’s B singles championships. He overcame strong opposition from players from Munster and Connaught.
He defeated Connor Skehan in a tie- breaker in the semi-final. In the final he had he’s hands full with a tough opponent in Padric Ryder from Westport but Pa went on to take the title in straight sets.
Pa also got some good news last weekend when he won his way on to the Irish team to play in the world in June.
The World Championships will be held in Burling- ton, Canada from June 14 to 20 and all Arklow wish him the very best of luck.
Also at the nationals were Adam Neary. He got to quarter-finals of the open.
Joe Farrell reached the semi-finals of the open singles. John Fitzgerald also competed in the men’s C and D. 30th Arklow Irish Open Championships. Its all systems go now for the 30th Arklow Irish Open Championships. The entries are quite good and we will need to use the Coolgreaney court. Thanks to Patsy Murray and the Coolgreany committee .

We wish all competitors the very best of luck over the weekend.
