Mitchell calls for work on Kilcoole to station footpath
CLLR Derek Mitchell made urgent calls for a footpath to be put in from Kilcoole to the station. Cllr Mitchell said that Sea Road is ‘narrow and heavily used’ and a footpath there should be a priority in terms of pedestrian safety.
He said that while work had begun on the project and a design had been done up, it seems to have stalled.
‘I have been pressing the council to design and fund one for many years and a design was produced last year,’ he said. ‘ This needed discussion with landowners as the road is too narrow. Unfortunately work stopped and I have asked the council to restart work so that we can present a plan to the National Transport Authority to fund it.’
The council agreed and Cllr Mitchell is now hoping progress can be made.
