Snow way! A festive flurry falls on Bray as the town is lit up
THE streets of Bray were packed to capacity on Saturday evening as the town held it’s official ceremony to turn on the Christmas lights and get the festive season under way.
The season started with a bang at the Civic Plaza on the Main Street as there was a wonderful fireworks display to enjoy as ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ rang out in the air.
However, for the boys and girls of Bray, there was only one thing, or more correctly, one person they wanted to see – a special guest that travelled all the way from the North Pole to be with them, Santa Claus.
Santa was in great form as he waved to the boys and girls, wishing them a happy Christmas and even double checking what they had on their Christmas list before he returns on the big night, Christmas Eve.
The festive fun was added to with wonderful performances from Bray Musical Society and St Cronan’s Boys Choir who kept the crowd entertained with some of their favourite Christmas carols.
Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District Cllr John Brady thanked everyone for making the effort and coming out, while wearing a Christmas jumper that Ryan Tubridy would have been proud of on The Late Late Toy Show.
There was a wonderful atmosphere around the town as the Christmas season officially got underway and hopefully it will continue in the coming weeks as we get closer to Santa’s arrival.
