TD for Wicklow and East Carlow Stephen Donnelly met with The Bray Homeless Forum in the town on Friday to discuss opportunities for different groups to work together to improve the housing situation and respond to the challenges facing Bray and the rest of Wicklow.

Deputy Donnelly congratulated Annette Kennedy, Chair of the Bray Homeless Forum, on her work in setting up a multi-stakeholder forum on Wicklow’s housing challenges.

Deputy Donnelly said that bringing several groups together was beneficial for everyone in solving the problem of homelessness. ‘It was very useful to have the different groups together to see where the opportunities are, and Annette deserves great credit for the initiative,’ he said. ‘For example, the voluntary housing groups seem to have technical staff that the Council need in order to plan for future builds.’

Deputy Donnelly continued: ‘Wicklow County Council could provide valuable input by commissioning a report on the scale of the housing challenge, including, for example, the number, size and locations of housing required to meet the current demands.’
