A 94-year-old Bray man won worldwide recognition this week – as the globe’s longest serving altar boy!

And that’s official because Tommy Kinsella of Killarney Road has just been accepted into the Guinness Book of Records for his world beating feat.

His inclusion in the famous tome is all due to the efforts of 16-year-old Aisling Tiernan from Ardmore Park, who set a trend herself a few years ago when she became one of the first altar girls to serve at mass after training with Tommy.

Long recognised as Ireland’s longest serving altar boy, Aisling said she decided to approach the Guinness Book of Records because he has been such an outstanding character in Bray.

‘He’s always been such an inspirational figure to me,’ said Bray Loreto transition year student Aisling.
