The annual Glencormac United Christmas Social night took place last Saturday in ‘Plucks’.

The club’s Christmas Draw was held with Joe Devlin winning the top prize of €2,000 which was sold by Andy Free.

Tom Clarkson of Roundwood always buys a ticket off Christy Devlin and was beginning to wonder was his former work colleague even putting the ticket stub in the draw as he had never won anything but this year Tom came out second and got a €1,000 into the bargain.

Club treasurer John Hall always hits the parents for tickets and they also finally won something and are €500 richer.

There were five other winners of €100 each and they were Karen Golden, Ger Cullen, Paul Whelan, Anne Brady and Jim McGrath.

The club are deeply indebted to everyone who bought tickets for this major fundraiser and to the sellers.

one of those sellers was dedicated club chairman Christy Devlin who sold half of the total amount sold.

While Christy is not as mobile as he once was and cannot get to all of the junior and senior matches, he is still the ‘Main Man’ and an integral part of the club over its 40 year history.

Christy and his wife Bridie also organise the draw and everyone at the club really appreciates and acknowledge all the work they put in.

The clubs ‘Director of Football’ Paul Prendergast also puts in a huge effort and deserves great credit also for his work on the draw and in general.
