bOU might think you’re suffering from déje vu but don’t fret, you’re not. Once again, Stephanie Roche hogged Twitter as news broke on Monday evening that she was down to the final three in the running for the FIFA Goal of the bear. The Shankill lady was understandably delighted.

Stephanie Roche: “Yessssss!!!! Come on!! So happy right now, thank u to EVERYONE who has voted for me! Oh and if you’s could keep voting please!”

But it looks like the fame has already gone to her head as she left behind boyfriend Dean Zambra (of Bray Wanderers fame) and best friend Aine O’Gorman (of Ireland Women’s team and Enniskerry fame) in favour of Bray comedian Dara O’Briain.

Dara O’Briain: “Well done @StephanieRoche9 for getting on the shortlist for FIFA #Puskas Award alongside @jamesdrodriguez & @Persie_Official!”

Dara O’Brian: “Early and often, people. ‘@mikemclennan: Here’s a link to the Puskas @StephanieRoche9 voting page(…)”

With O’Briain making the first move, Roche wasn’t long in replying to her new buddy.

Stephanie Roche: “@ daraobriain @jamesdrodriguez @Persie_Official thank u Dara!”

And that left poor Dean and Aine wondering what they had to do to be noticed.

Aine O’Gorman: “@DeanZambra we might get to talk to @StephanieRoche9 in about 3 days when her phone stops hopping”

Dean Zambra: “Aineogor9 @StephanieRoche9 she’s already forgotten about the little people. Straight shootout between us 2 for the plus 1 ”

All joking aside, O’Gorman was over the moon for her friend and teammate and she even bagged a claim to fame of her own thanks to Extratime.ie.

Aine O’Gorman: “Isn’t (it) a great day for womens sport, football & Ireland as they would say”

Extratime.ie: “It needs to be mentioned, @StephanieRoche9 goal was of course thanks to a lovely cross from @Aineogor9 #AssistToAPuskasFinalistGoal”

Another Wicklow woman basking in glory was Katie Taylor, who took a well-deserved break in Italy this week. But she still found the time to deliver a knockout blow to fellow Olympian Paddy Barnes.

Katie Taylor: “Great weekend in Rome. Ate my weight in food and had the legs walked off me! #goodtimes”

Paddy Barnes: “Here @KatieTaylor ya may have 5 World titles but have ya got 2 Commonwealth Games titles??? #fightme”

Katie Taylor: “@paddyb_ ireland haha! The commonwealths?! Sure my Ma would win a gold medal in that!!”

Many of you will have read Stephen Hunt’s controversial comments questioning whether GAA players could cut it in the Premier League. A few of Wicklow’s own had their opinions on the Ipswich winger.

Anthony McLoughlin: “Stephen hunt may have a point, falling over continuously when an opposing player looks at you must be quite tiring #rest #soccer #Nancy”

Jonathan Daniels: “@Antomac89 did Stevo hunt get a knee in the head. Drove 800yrds daily to save energy. Did you ever hear so much garbage from a pro!”

And Christmas kicked off in the home of Wicklow manager Johnny Magee.

Magee: “Christmas tree up(…)polar express on #kidsarehappynow #xmas”

Twitter loves Stephanie Roche.
