Assault case is adjourned

-

A defendant before Thursday’s sitting of Bray District Court is accused of assaulting a person who refused to give him his mobile phone.

Stephen McLoughlin, 26 Shanganagh Woods, Shankill, is alleged to have approached a group of people sitting in Shanganagh Woods at 7 p.m. on July 10 and demanded one of the group hand over their mobile phone.

After the owner of the phone refused, McLoughlin is accused of kicking and punching the victim in the face. He is also alleged to have landed another blow to the victim’s face after he fell to the ground.

Initially in the case it was reported that the victim had suffered a facial fracture but a second medical report was able to clarify that no fracture occurred.

On November 5 0f this year, McLoughlin was stopped on Quinnsboro Road, Bray, and was found to be in possession of two knives and a hammer to break glass. He also had €200 in his possession, a UPS key and a breast cancer charity key.

Judge William Early put both matters back to January 5 2015.
