Services of Worship for This Sunday–The Third Sunday of Advent; 8.30am–Holy Communion; 11am–Family Service with Re-Dedication, followed after- wards with coffee in the Erck Hall, and 7pm–Blue Christmas Service, Lector Garrett O’Keeffe.

150th Anniversar­y Service: On Friday this Special Service to mark the 150th Anniversar­y of Rathmichae­l Church on December 12th 1864 will take place at 7pm and will be followed afterwards with light refreshmen­ts in the Erck Hall. This will be a Special Service of Evansong (from the old book) to commemorat­e the 150th birthday of the present church. Church warden Martin Bernon will speak on the background and history of this church, while Diocesaanb Minister and Parish Reader, Lily Byrne, who will speak about her faith.

Christmas Timetable: Christmas Eve–11.45pm: The First Communion of Christmas. Christmas Day: 8.30am–Holy Communion; 11am–Family Service; 11.45am– Holy Communion.

The Alpha /In-Between Book Club: The two books for review and discussion at the January meeting will be ‘ The Zookeeper’s Wife ‘ by Dianna Ackerman, and ‘ Norah Webster ‘ by Colm Tobin.

ST.ANNE’S PARISH

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St. Anne’s Church at 10am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday, (except during July & August). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30pm Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8am, (9am in St. Patrick’s Church in St. Columcille’s Hospital), 10.30am (Family Mass), 12 Noon, and 6pm.

Coffee Morning: There is a special get together every Thursday after 10am. You are welcome to join our community in St. Anne’s Resource Centre for a cuppa and chat.

Christmas Cards: Christmas Cards featuring a picture of St. Anne’s Church are now on sale in St. Anne’s Resource Centre. 8 cards for €5.

Secret Choir: The Secret Choir has been invited to take part in the December 17th Parish Carol Service. A rehearsal will take place tonight (Wednesday) at 8pm. The Choir will be singing two hymns at the Carol Service.

St. Vincent de Paul Society Annual Indoor Collection: This collection will replace the SHARE collection at all this weekend’s Masses.

Great Garda Christmas Bakeoff: A Coffee Morning in aid of the Wicklow Hospice will take place on Monday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm in St. Anne’s Resource Centre. All welcome.

Making Seasons Bright: A Concert featuring the Habemus Chamber Choir performing Christmas, Choral and Contempora­ry favorites will take place in the Church on Sunday Decemver 21st at 8pm. Tickets €10 per person / €20 per family. Compliment­ary mulle3d wine/tea/ coffee and mince pies in St.Anne’s Resource Centre afterwards. Proceeds in aid of the Parish.

Advent Retreat: A UAC Advent Retreat will take place this Sunday from 11am to 6pm in St. Anne’s Resource Centre, led by Fr. Derry Murphy and Fr. Liam McClarey. Tea and Coffee will be provided– please bring a packed lunch.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party: The Senior Citizens Christmas Party will take place on this Friday from 2pm—4pm in Scoil Mhuire. Contact the Resource Centre to book a place on 01 2822277. Lifts will be provided.

Calling Transition Year Students: Your help is needed to organise the Senior Citizens Christmas Party in Scoil Mhuire this Friday. Please leave your name in the Resource Centre if you are available to give us some assistance.

Men’s Coffee Morning: Due to the success of the Men’s Coffee Morning, this social get together will continue every Friday from 10.30am to 11.30pm in St. Resource Centre.

Christmas Carol Service: St. Anne’s Parish invites you to join them at this special time of the year for the Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday December 17th at 8.15pm in the Church. All welcome.

Carol Service: This will take place in the Church off SS Alphonsus and Columba at 5pm on Sunday December 21st. Penance Service: A Christmas Penance Service will take place in the Church of the Apostle at 7.30pm on Monday December 15th on Tuesday December 16th at 7.30pm in the Church of St. Columbanus, Loughlinst­own.

BOOK SALE

There was a very large attendance at last Saturday morning’s December First Saturday Book Sale which took take place in Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, from 10am to 1 p.m. As always there was an excellent selection of reading material to choose from, The January First Saturday Book Sale will take place on Saturday January 3rd in the same venue. Donations of books, other than school/text books, appreciate­d and accept on the day. Make a point of calling as you never know what you might find.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10am to 1pm and from to 5pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 8pm. To renew or inquire about a book call 01-2823801 or Email:shankillli­b@dlrcoco.ie.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Dr. Colin Ireland was the guest speaker for last Wednesday night’s meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society takes place at 8pm in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, at which he presented his lecture on ‘ Leinster’s place in the world in the 7th Century’.

Members of the Society are invited to attend tomorrow night’s meeting of the Enniskerry History Society at 8.30pm in the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel, at which James Scannell will present his lecture ‘Christmas 1914 in Co. Wicklow’. All welcome to attend–admission €3.

The next meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society will take place on Wednesday January 7th 2015 at 8pm in Rathmichae­l School when the AGM of the Society will take place. New members are welcome.
