LAKESHORE WON­DER­LAND Avon Ri, Bless­ing­ton 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The North Pole comes to the lake’s shore in this win­ter won­der­land at the Avon Ri. Along with vis­it­ing Santa, kids can have a go on the Elf zi­pline, take Santa’s Avon Ri Christ­mas Trail Quiz, visit the magic wish­ing stone, en­joy some Christ­mas fam­ily movies and visit the an­i­mals in the pet farm. This is both an in­door and out­door event so please dress ap­pro­pri­ately. You will then de­part Christ­mas Is­land on Santa’s mag­i­cal sleigh boat to go see the big man him­self in Santa’s Grotto. CHRIST­MAS CON­CERT Bridge Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Ark­low 6.30 p.m. The Ark­low Youth Cen­tre Christ­mas con­cert takes place the Bridge Com­mu­nity Cen­tre at 7pm. The con­cert is open to adults will showcase a wealth of Ark­low tal­ent. Ad­mis­sion to this fes­tive event is free. TINKER­BELL’S WON­DER­LAND AND CHRIST­MAS VIL­LAGE Talk of the Town, Kil­te­gan 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Kil­te­gan will get a taste of the North Pole as Santa ar­rives by sleigh to meet the girls and boys at this won­der­ful fes­tive ex­pe­ri­ence in aid of Tinker­bell Pre- school. THE FOR­EST TRAIN Avon­dale House and For­est Park 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. This Christ­mas, take a mag­i­cal trip on The For­est Train to visit Santa and his hard­work­ing elves in his toy work­shop, deep in the woods at Avon­dale. Keep an eye out for Noo­dle the lazy Elf who is run­ning late for work and needs help find­ing his magic dust. Once you’ve reached the work­shop, Santa will call each fam­ily to see him. SINGING SAN­TYS

Wick­low town The Meals on Wheels Singing San­tys have be­come a house­hold name in Wick­low. For over 30 years they have been grac­ing the pubs in Wick­low town and singing in the street, dressed in their very fes­tive gear. The band of San­tys start off in the Leitrim lounge singing Christ­mas songs, then make their way to all the pubs in the town. It takes around one hour to com­plete and the last port of call is Ta Se pub in the mar­ket square. The money is counted by the team on the night and the amount an­nounced. CAROL SINGING

Wick­low town The Wick­low Male Voice Choir will once again be singing their hearts out on the streets of Wick­low town and all the money col­lected will be do­nated to the lo­cal Lions Club. Buck­ets will be jin­gling to the strains of Ru­dolph and White Christ­mas and mem­bers will once again call upon the gen­eros­ity of the pub­lic to dig deep and help the Lions serve the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

CAR­OLS BY CAN­DLE­LIGHT The Horse and Hound, Del­gany 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. En­joy a sooth­ing Christ­mas Eve with some car­ols by can­dle­light by the pi­ano. Suit­able for all the fam­ily.

STREETS OF WICK­LOW RUN East Glen­dalough School 11.30 a.m. Inbhear Dee Ath­let­ics Club, with spon­sor­ship from Burke Oil, are host­ing this 5km road race and char­ity run on St Stephen’s day in aid of St Pa­trick’s GAA Club. A Kids Fun Run ( for those un­der the age of 12) will also take place at 11 a. m. With a record en­try sign­ing up last year, the or­gan­is­ers will be hop­ing for a sim­i­lar turnout this time around. Spon­sor­ship cards for the main run are now avail­able from Alan Lawlor of St Pa­trick’s GAA Club, while it will cost € 3 for a child to take part in the fun run. RATH­DRUM RUGBY CLUB VER­SUS THE HOUND DOGS Rath­drum Rugby Club, 2 p.m. kick off The long­est run­ning char­ity rugby game in the coun­try re­turns with the Hound Dogs do­ing bat­tle against Rath­drum. This an­nual ex­hi­bi­tion games has taken place ev­ery year since 1974. Sons of some of the char­ity game’s found­ing fa­thers will take the place of their weary el­ders.

SANTA DASH Ti­na­hely Com­mu­nity Cen­tre 11.30 a.m. Shake of the in­dul­gence of Christ­mas at this 4/6km walk, run, buggy-push and Santa dash. CHAR­ITY MATCHES Glen­cor­mac Utd From 12.30 p.m. The an­nual Glen­cor­mac United FC Christ­mas Char­ity Matches on the Quill Road. The first game is for the Joe Mol­loy Memo­rial Shield and will take place at 12.30 p.m. be­tween Karl Bradshaw’s U11 panel and Lar Mer­ri­man’s U10s. The sec­ond match is for the Benny Finnerty Memo­rial Cup and will take place at 1.45 p.m. All monies do­nated on the day go to Bray Can­cer Support Group and the Ir­ish Heart Foun­da­tion.

CHAR­ITY SWIM The new pier, Wick­low town 12.45 p.m. TBC. Each year Wick­low Swimming Club or­gan­ise a chatty swim for lo­cal or­gan- isa­tions. Last year 55 brave souls took the plunge, with a crowd of 200 on­look­ers shout­ing on their en­cour­age­ment. Some of the swim­mers also don some fes­ti­val cloth­ing and cos­tumes be­fore div­ing into the chilly wa­ters.

NEW YEAR’S CEL­E­BRA­TION The Horse and Hound, Del­gany 7.30 p.m. Kick start your New Year’s cel­e­bra­tions with a cham­pagne re­cep­tion be­fore tuck­ing into a three-course meal then danc­ing the night away to the live mu­sic. Tick­ets: €40. RING­ING IN THE NEW YEAR
