Handel’s Messiah performed by choral society
A very special concert took place last Saturday evening at the Holy Redeemer church on Bray Main Street.
It was the Christmas concert of Bray Choral society with a beautiful performance of Handel’s Messiah.
Chair of the group Janet Swaine spoke to the audience about the piece before the start of the performance. Musical Director Frank Kelly then welcomed the soloists onto the platform for the concert to begin. Organist David Leigh provided the accompaniment on the evening.
Soloists on the night were tenor Eoin Hynes, soprano Clodagh Kinsella, countertenor Kevin O’Sullivan and bass Peter Manning.
Audience members described the music on the night at ‘incredibly beautiful.’
The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at St Kilian’s Community School on School’s Road off the Boghall at 7.45 p.m. People of all musical abilities are welcome to join.
The choral society currently boasts around 100 active members. Some of those have been there since the very beginning while others are relatively new to the choir.
