IT’S a bit like Hamlet without the prince.

Cherry Tree Drive in Bray no longer has a cherry tree!

The loss prompted Cllr John Byrne to request a replacement tree at the monthly meeting of the Bray Urban District Council last week.

Cllr Byrne was speaking during a discussion in which members welcomed a positive public response to a recent programme on planting mature trees.

The planting took place along Killarney and Boghall roads.

Cherry Tree Drive is located on Bray’s Boghall Road. The small cul de sac has only 10 houses. Chairman Michael Lawlor urged members of the public to keep a watchful eye on the newly planted trees.

He said the public could help to guard them from destruction by vandals.
