BIG FAT QUIZ OF THE YEAR

Round­wood Va­ri­ety Group are hold­ing ‘The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2014’ up­stairs in An Tochar G.A.A. com­plex on Mon­day 29th De­cem­ber start­ing at 8pm. It will be a quiz with a dif­fer­ence with all the ques­tions based on events of 2014. There will be games and spot prizes on the night fol­lowed by mu­sic and craic. Round­wood Va­ri­ety Group is look­ing for any business or per­son who would like to be­come a spon­sor for their up­com­ing mu­si­cal “Honk The Ugly Duck­ling”. This year the tick­ets for the show will be booked on line and then printed off.

BIATHLON

Our an­nual biathlon will take place on Satur­day 27th De­cem­ber at 2pm with re­fresh­ments and mu­sic af­ter­wards in Ka­vanaghs. A great event for all ages and all lev­els of fit­ness that will help blow away the cob­webs of the Christ­mas. 5 mile cy­cle/2mile run in aid of Can­cer & Leuki­aemia Re­search. There was no jack­pot win­ner in the lotto draw last week. The num­bers drawn were 1, 5, 29 & 30. There were two match three win­ners, Maura & Orla & Rian But­ler Next weeks jack­pot will be, €5,300.

DI­A­MOND BRIDGE CLUB

Cather­ine McGillycuddy and Mon­ica Brady were the vic­tors for North/South on Mon­day 8th De­cem­ber Phil Power and Nancy O Brien were 2nd, 3rd Judy and Tier­nan Hall 4th Mar­garet Byrne and Kay Plun­kett. 1st for East/ West were Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne, 2nd Ger Leni­han and Paddy O Brien, 3rd Brid Clancy and Cather­ine Hal­li­gan and 4th Ger­tie Fee and Bri­die Nolan.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

In the fi­nal com­pe­ti­tion of 2014 Ger Leni­han and Paddy O Brien fin­ished the sea­son as they be­gan by tak­ing 1st place for East/West 2nd Ger­tie Fee and Jane Cronin, 3rd Molly and Mar­garet Byrne. 1st place for North/South Rowena Brady and Maria Magee, 2nd June Digby and Mon­ica Brady and 3rd Molly and Mar­garet Byrne. The top 3 places in the sea­sons league went to Mar­garet Bol­ger, Paddy O’Brien and Ger Leni­han re­spec­tively. Con­grat­u­la­tions and well played to ev­ery­one who took part.

Happy Christ­mas to all mem­bers and look for­ward to see­ing you all again on 9th Jan­uary 2015 when we start( if it is any­thing like this last one) a very en­joy­able new sea­son of Bridge.

SET DANCE CLASS

Set danc­ing classes con­tinue on Wed­nes­day nights in The Mill Room, Kil­coole . Classes for all lev­els.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wick­low man will play in Moneystown Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Fri­day 12th De­cem­ber from 9.30 to 12. Teas and mince pies, door prizes, re­fresh­ments also avail­able. Come along and en­joy a night of waltz­ing, jive etc. Our new years dance takes place on Fri 9th ,Jan­uary with mu­sic by John Flood.

SHRINES OF FRANCE

A trip to the shrines of France will take place from 11th to 18th April, 2015 for seven nights, vis­it­ing Lourdes, Ro­ca­madour, Nev­ers, Paris and Lisieux. The to­tal cost is €799 per per­son shar­ing. De­tails are in the church porch. De­posit of €200 should be paid as soon as pos­si­ble and the bal­ance of the oney be­fore 1st Fe­bru­ary, 2015. The an­nual Can­dle­light Carol Ser­vice will be held in Calary Church at 8pm on Fri­day 19th De­cem­ber fol­lowed by tea and mince pies in the Church Room. COM­MU­NITY GAMES

Another year of Com­mu­nity Games is about to be­gin. We have a small hard work­ing com­mit­tee in Round­wood We are ap­peal­ing for ex­tra help in or­der to en­ter the full range of events that the Com­mu­nity Games of­fer.

We are look­ing for peo­ple who are in­ter­ested in chess, draughts, singing, danc­ing, art and hand­writ­ing. If sport is your thing then you will find some­thing to suit you with Com­mu­nity Games. Some of the games of­fered are soc­cer, bas­ket­ball, bad­minton, hurl­ing, foot­ball and ath­let­ics and many more in­di­vid­ual and team sports.

If any­body in the Moneystown Laragh Round­wood area feel they can give a hand we would love to hear from them. Com­mu­nity Games caters for chil­dren from six to six­teen.
