Powerscourt Arms Hotel Dart team had another good win last week when Jessie,Keith, Ronnie, Shay and Gary were the winners. The Olde Forge suffered another defeat but are hoping for better luck in 2016.

Enniskerry GAA Club are having a Fun Game featuring Their Ladies and Mens teams plus the under 16 panel on Sunday 28th December in Pairc na Sillogue all players will donate at least €5 and hopefully the spectators likewise monies collected will go to local Old Folks.

Despite last Thursday night’s very inclement weather there was a very large attendance at the final 2014 meeting of the Enniskerry History Society in the Powerscourt Arms Hotel, Enniskerry, at which James Scannell presented his lecture ‘ Christmas 1914 in Co. Wicklow ‘ which looked at how people in Co. Wicklow celebrated the first Christmas of World War One and at some of the events that happened in the county over that period. At the end of the meeting John Callan extended his sincere and grateful thanks to the manager and staff of the Powerscourt Arms Hotel for their excellent support and assistance with meetings throughout 2014, and to the local parishes and media for advertising their meetings. The 2015 programme of lectures has been finalised and details will be announced shortly.
Members of the Society are invited to Friday’s 11.30am Bray Cualann Historical Society lecture in Bray library at which James Scannell will recall ‘ Christmas 1914 in Bray ‘ which looks at how Christmas was celebrated in Bray. All welcome–admission free.
The January 2015 programme of the Enniskerry History Society commences on Thursday January 15th at 8.30pm in the Powercourt Arms Hotel at which author and historian Liam Clare from Foxrock will present his lecture ‘Loughlinstown Workhouse during the Famine Years ‘.
