Pow­er­scourt Arms Ho­tel Dart team had another good win last week when Jessie,Keith, Ron­nie, Shay and Gary were the win­ners. The Olde Forge suf­fered another de­feat but are hop­ing for bet­ter luck in 2016.

De­spite last Thurs­day night’s very in­clement weather there was a very large attendance at the fi­nal 2014 meet­ing of the En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety in the Pow­er­scourt Arms Ho­tel, En­niskerry, at which James Scannell pre­sented his lec­ture ‘ Christ­mas 1914 in Co. Wick­low ‘ which looked at how peo­ple in Co. Wick­low cel­e­brated the first Christ­mas of World War One and at some of the events that hap­pened in the county over that pe­riod. At the end of the meet­ing John Cal­lan ex­tended his sin­cere and grate­ful thanks to the man­ager and staff of the Pow­er­scourt Arms Ho­tel for their ex­cel­lent support and as­sis­tance with meet­ings through­out 2014, and to the lo­cal parishes and me­dia for ad­ver­tis­ing their meet­ings. The 2015 pro­gramme of lec­tures has been fi­nalised and de­tails will be an­nounced shortly.

Mem­bers of the So­ci­ety are in­vited to Fri­day’s 11.30am Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety lec­ture in Bray li­brary at which James Scannell will re­call ‘ Christ­mas 1914 in Bray ‘ which looks at how Christ­mas was cel­e­brated in Bray. All wel­come–ad­mis­sion free.

The Jan­uary 2015 pro­gramme of the En­niskerry His­tory So­ci­ety com­mences on Thurs­day Jan­uary 15th at 8.30pm in the Pow­er­court Arms Ho­tel at which au­thor and his­to­rian Liam Clare from Foxrock will present his lec­ture ‘Lough­lin­stown Work­house dur­ing the Famine Years ‘.
