We would like to ex­tend Sea­sons Greet­ings to all our read­ers wish­ing them a very Happy Christ­mas and Peace­ful and Pros­per­ous New Year. We also wish to thank the many peo­ple and or­gan­i­sa­tions who gave us items which we were pleased to in­clude in the Notes.

Many peo­ple from many parts of the world are trav­el­ling back to Rath­drum to spend Christ­mas with their fam­i­lies and friends. We wish them a safe jour­ney and an en­joy­able hol­i­day.


There is just one Bingo Night left be­fore Christ­mas. So it is the last chance to get some ex­tra cash. This Fri­day night there will be €2,000 in prizes. There will be a num­ber of sea­sonal prizes plus an ex­tra Free Game. The R.D.A. would like to wish all bingo sup­port­ers and helpers a very Happy Christ­mas.


Blood donors are re­minded that the Mo­bile Trans­fu­sion Unit will be in the R.D.A. Hall to-night 17th De­cem­ber and con­tri­bu­tions will be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated. Open­ing hours will be from 4.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.


A fund-rais­ing day will take place in Avoca Re-cy­cling Cen­tre on Satur­day 20th De­cem­ber. Pro­ceeds will go to the main­te­nance of the Min­ers Cross in­clud­ing E.S.B. sup­ply, etc. Come along and have a cup of tea, Christ­mas cake, mince pies, etc. Try your luck at the Raf­fle for some great prizes. Santa him­self will ar­rive at 1.00 p.m. to draw the win­ning tick­ets.


Avoca Re-cy­cling Cen­tre open­ing hours over Christ­mas and New Year will be as fol­lows: Satur­day 20th open from 9.00 a.m. to 1.45 p.m. Tues­day 23rd De­cem­ber open from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Tues­day 30th De­cem­ber from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Re­turn­ing to nor­mal work­ing hours from Fri­day Jan­uary 2nd, 2015.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Caoimhe Daly O’Brien on her ex­cel­lent per­for­mance in the U-13 All-Ire­land re­cently. The club are hold­ing their An­nual 5K Fun Run on New Years Day. The event will take place in Avon­dale For­est Park start­ing at 11.00 a.m. In­cluded will be Boys, Girls, Ju­niors, Se­niors, Vets and Walk­ers. Lots of prizes and re­fresh­ments.

Set Dancers will as­sem­ble in Rath­drum Sports Com­plex on Jan­uary 2nd, 2015 for the An­nual Set Dance/Ceili in aid of Fr. Wil­lie Wal­she Mis­sion Fund. This should be a lively night’s danc­ing with the mu­sic of The O’Kane Fam­ily and The Bass Band. The danc­ing will com­mence at 9.00 p.m. and there will be a short break for sea­sonal re­fresh­ments. Fr. Wil­lie who is cur­rently on hol­i­day from the Mis­sions is hop­ing to at­tend this event.
