Emmerdale What’s going on?
TV3 & UTV
In theory, Katie and Andy should be getting double the presents this year, as they’re due to walk down the aisle on Christmas Day. But it seems not everyone in the village will be turning up with a gift voucher to wish them well. Bernice admits to Kerry that she doesn’t think she can do the bride’s hair and make-up after all, as she’s still carrying a torch for the groom, and presumably her professional pride wouldn’t allow her to make Katie look awful on purpose. She can’t duck out of the preparations all together though, as she’s forced to work behind the bar during the fancy-dress stag night. A lovelorn barmaid is the least of Andy’s problems, as Robert puts in an unexpected appearance at the Woolpack.
Andy reluctantly agrees to let him stay, but this rare show of civility doesn’t last long and the brothers end the night by brawling at their parents’ graveside. It would be a disturbing spectacle even if Andy wasn’t dressed as Ginger Spice, but Victoria and Diane can’t help worrying that Robert has something even worse in mind. And he isn’t the only potentially wedding-wrecking lose cannon, as a hungover Kerry spends the morning retching in the general vicinity of Katie’s dress, and a drunken Bernice lurches towards the church. Will the ceremony go ahead? Whatever happens, it seems unlikely Robert will be on Katie and Andy’s 2015 Christmas card list, but he also risks getting the New Year off to a bad start with Chrissie, when he sneaks off to see Aaron, leaving Lachlan home alone. The teen has been supplying Belle with legal highs to ‘help’ her deal with her problems, and when she finds Lachlan has the place to himself, she convinces him to take one with her. Sadly, he suffers an adverse reaction and begins fitting, leaving Belle wracked with guilt – and Chrissie wondering why her fiancé wasn’t around to keep an eye on them. Elsewhere, Moira has finally had enough of Charity and tries to kick her out of Butler’s Farm, but the newly returned Cain is reluctant to make his cousin homeless. Megan is feeling down about her first Christmas without her family, but Jai has a plan to cheer her up – by proposing. She’s worried that he sees her as a potential stepmother rather than a wife, and her doubts are only fuelled when they spot the man who sold him Archie. Ross manages to put a smile on April’s face – and a scowl on Laurel’s – when he brings her a gift on Christmas Day, and pregnant Nicola is rushed to hospital.
