WICKLOW TOURISM’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS WALK Brockagh Resource Centre 10 a.m.
Walk off that turkey and Christmas pudding with a fully-guided 13.5km walk around Glendalough, The Spinc and Lugduff. Organised by Footfalls Walking Holidays with the support of Wicklow County Tourism, the walk begins at the Brockagh Resource Centre and is expected to last four hours before walkers return to the centre for a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate and a mince pie. Cost: €20.
SANTA DASH Tinahely Community Centre 11.30 a.m.
Shake of the indulgence of Christmas at this 4/6km walk, run, buggy-push and Santa dash. Registration takes place at 9.30 a.m. and there will be a free t-shirt for the first 100 people to register. For more details or to register, call (086) 2005652.
CHARITY MATCHES Glencormac Utd From 12.30 p.m.
The annual Glencormac United FC Christmas Charity Matches on the Quill Road. The first game is for the Joe Mol- loy Memorial Shield and will take place at 12.30 p.m. between Karl Bradshaw’s U11 panel and Lar Merriman’s U10s. The second match is for the Benny Finnerty Memorial Cup and will take place at 1.45 p.m. All monies donated on the day go to Bray Cancer Support Group and the Irish Heart Foundation.
CHARITY SWIM The new pier, Wicklow town 12.45 p.m. TBC.
Each year Wicklow Swimming Club organise a chatty swim for local organisations. Last year 55 brave souls took the plunge, with a crowd of 200 onlookers shouting on their encouragement. Some of the swimmers also don some festival clothing and costumes before diving into the chilly waters.
