SANTA AND HIS ELVES Pow­er­scourt House 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

The kids will be en­chanted as they visit Santa and his elves at Pow­er­scourt House and take the time to visit the man in red’s real life deer in the sta­bles. Cost: €10 per child (adults go free).

CHRIST­MAS STA­BLES Pow­er­scourt Gar­den Pavil­ion Sta­bles 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kids will love the chance to visit some of Santa’s favourite farm an­i­mals, in­clud­ing his deer, pygmy goats, minia­ture don­keys, rab­bits and guinea pigs. Adults and chil­dren of all ages are wel­come to pay a visit the sta­bles, which is free of charge.

THE FOR­EST TRAIN Avon­dale House and For­est Park 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This Christ­mas, take a mag­i­cal trip on The For­est Train to visit Santa and his hard­work­ing elves in his toy work­shop, deep in the woods at Avon­dale. Keep an eye out for Noo­dle the lazy Elf who is run­ning late for work and needs help find­ing his magic dust. Once you’ve reached the work­shop, Santa will call each fam­ily to see him. This ex­pe­ri­ence will last ap­prox­i­mately one hour. Tick­ets, which must be booked on­line at www.the­for­est­train.ie cost €15 for chil­dren, €10 for adults and €5 for ba­bies (0-12 months).

LAKESHORE WON­DER­LAND Avon Ri, Bless­ing­ton 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The North Pole comes to the lake’s shore in this win­ter won­der­land at the Avon Ri. Along with vis­it­ing Santa, kids can have a go on the Elf zi­pline, take Santa’s Avon Ri Christ­mas Trail Quiz, visit the magic wish­ing stone, en­joy some Christ­mas fam­ily movies and visit the an­i­mals in the pet farm. This is both an in­door and out­door event so please dress ap­pro­pri­ately. Ad­mis­sion for chil­dren (one adult goes free, ad­di­tional adults pay €5) is €18 and in­cludes a visit to Santa, a gift and hot choco­late and full ac­cess to Santa’s Lakeshore Won­der­land.

CHRIST­MAS IS­LAND Hid­den Val­ley Hol­i­day Park, Rath­drum 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Go on a spe­cial jour­ney to Christ­mas Is­land to meet Mrs Claus, have fun with the elves, write a let­ter to Santa and make an or­na­ment for your Christ­mas tree. You will then de­part Christ­mas Is­land on Santa’s mag­i­cal sleigh boat to go see the big man him­self in Santa’s Grotto. Tick­ets, which must be booked in ad­vance at www.christ­ma­sis­land.ie, cost €15 per child and €12 per adult.

WHITE CHRIST­MAS Mer­maid Arts Cen­tre 8 p.m.

‘Tis the sea­son for feel-good clas­sic movies and they don’t come much bet­ter than this all-time favourite from 1954, star­ring Bing Crosby, Danny Haye and Rose­mary Clooney. Bound to put even the most stub­born Scrooge in a fes­tive mood. Tick­ets: €5.

CHRIST­MAS JUMPER COM­PE­TI­TION Boomerang Bar Bray 8 p.m.

The jumper com­pe­ti­tion and raf­fle will be held to raise money for Five Loaves and in mem­ory of the late Paul Hayde. The tal­ented and cre­ative tat­too artist died ear­lier this year.
