SANTA AND HIS ELVES Powerscourt House 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The kids will be enchanted as they visit Santa and his elves at Powerscourt House and take the time to visit the man in red’s real life deer in the stables. Cost: €10 per child (adults go free).
CHRISTMAS STABLES Powerscourt Garden Pavilion Stables 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kids will love the chance to visit some of Santa’s favourite farm animals, including his deer, pygmy goats, miniature donkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs. Adults and children of all ages are welcome to pay a visit the stables, which is free of charge.
THE FOREST TRAIN Avondale House and Forest Park 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This Christmas, take a magical trip on The Forest Train to visit Santa and his hardworking elves in his toy workshop, deep in the woods at Avondale. Keep an eye out for Noodle the lazy Elf who is running late for work and needs help finding his magic dust. Once you’ve reached the workshop, Santa will call each family to see him. This experience will last approximately one hour. Tickets, which must be booked online at www.theforesttrain.ie cost €15 for children, €10 for adults and €5 for babies (0-12 months).
LAKESHORE WONDERLAND Avon Ri, Blessington 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The North Pole comes to the lake’s shore in this winter wonderland at the Avon Ri. Along with visiting Santa, kids can have a go on the Elf zipline, take Santa’s Avon Ri Christmas Trail Quiz, visit the magic wishing stone, enjoy some Christmas family movies and visit the animals in the pet farm. This is both an indoor and outdoor event so please dress appropriately. Admission for children (one adult goes free, additional adults pay €5) is €18 and includes a visit to Santa, a gift and hot chocolate and full access to Santa’s Lakeshore Wonderland.
CHRISTMAS ISLAND Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Rathdrum 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Go on a special journey to Christmas Island to meet Mrs Claus, have fun with the elves, write a letter to Santa and make an ornament for your Christmas tree. You will then depart Christmas Island on Santa’s magical sleigh boat to go see the big man himself in Santa’s Grotto. Tickets, which must be booked in advance at www.christmasisland.ie, cost €15 per child and €12 per adult.
WHITE CHRISTMAS Mermaid Arts Centre 8 p.m.
‘Tis the season for feel-good classic movies and they don’t come much better than this all-time favourite from 1954, starring Bing Crosby, Danny Haye and Rosemary Clooney. Bound to put even the most stubborn Scrooge in a festive mood. Tickets: €5.
CHRISTMAS JUMPER COMPETITION Boomerang Bar Bray 8 p.m.
The jumper competition and raffle will be held to raise money for Five Loaves and in memory of the late Paul Hayde. The talented and creative tattoo artist died earlier this year.
